About this Post:
In this post I introduce you to the little victim within me “Moaning Minnie”. Moaning Minnie likes to pop up quite a bit, she is addicted to drama, and she ultimately wants to keep me safe. I also share how I deal with these destructive parts within me, in order to stay in my true power.
So for the last few weeks, I’ve talked about what willingness looks like, and how important it is on a journey to living more authentic, and becoming more disco ball.
I also shared with you that the opposite of willingness is victimhood, and today I want to go more more deeply into this.
I actually have a name for my victim, she is called “Moaning Minnie”.
Moaning Minne is very dramatic, and extremely reactive. She works very closely with Little Miss Miss Fuck You too. If you haven’t read that post, Little Miss Fuck You is the defensive part of me that is highly reactive in certain situations, and responds to situations with a load of explicits in my head, and sometimes from my mouth!
Moaning Minnie is a bit more, well, moany! She isn’t as aggressive as Little Miss Fuck You, more whiny, and depressing. Little Miss Fuck You is rebellious and fun, Moaning Minnie is as boring as fuck. But they can both turn up individually, or sometimes in tandem.
Why I create names for my ego….
If you’re wondering why I create names for these different parts of my ego within me, it’s because it helps me to separate from them. It’s also a technique that is used in a variety of Therapy mediums that I have experienced, and I find it to be quite powerful.
The main characters that show up a lot are Sergeant Major (inner critic), Little Miss Fuck You (defensiveness), Polly the Perfectionist (my perfectionist), and Moaning Minnie (the victim).
They are the loudest voices in my head at times, so when they come up, which they do a lot still, I can separate myself from them, and ask myself what’s really going on here. Because 9 times out of 10 there is always something much bigger underneath going on…or they are simply just sabotaging something good.
I don’t want to eradicate them…
And it’s not like I want to eradicate them – they will always be in my head, especially as I continue to grow and evolve, but I don’t want them to run the show.
I find the best way for me to take ownership of these parts, is to get to know them, to understand why they’re showing up, and to also see the positives in them.
I’ve already done this with Sergeant Major, and Little Miss Fuck You in last year‘s writing, so if you have a strong inner critic, or a defensive part within you, you can look back at these, but today is all about Moaning Minnie.
